Terrible News…

I was traveling over the weekend, and after using my EHD in the morning….went to use it in the evening and NOTHING! After what I thought having an emotional weekend, I took my drive into the best Computer technicians here in Rochester. Well, they were able to recover nothing.

I am just a wreck right now and am feeling deflated. I have a name of a Computer Recovery company that can re-build hard drives in hopes to recover files, but the cost of this is $1,500-3000… And, even doing that there is no guarantee they could get the data off of the EHD. I know it is my own fault for not backing up. I just purchased this hard drive 3 months ago. Anyways… I’m sorry for boohoo-ing, I’m just so devastated!

So lesson for today: Be sure to BACK UP!!

Krista that's terrible!! I don't back-up either and I know I should but I just never seem to get around to it. Hearing what happened to you has motivated me! I'm so sorry about it though, what an awful thing to happen…….

Oh Krista! I'm so sorry! I'm sure you're just besides yourself! I wish I could help in a tangible way, but since that's not an option, I'll pray for you!

Oh My Krista…I'm so so so very sorry! I'm speechless and wish there was something I could say or do to make it better! Hope everything gets better!!

  • OMG, Krista!!!!! My heart goes out to you!!! I am SOOOOOO sorry! I hope you are able to recover something! Gosh, I wish so badly I could help!

  • OH NO!!! Krista, I had an EHD crash on me, but it was just the power source. DH took it apart and put the actual drive part into his tower and we were able to pull the info off of it. It's something to try. Of course we weren't going to spend the money to try to have things recovered, so we weren't worried about tampering with it. It totally worked though, so maybe it would work for you?
Good luck sweetie! That's the worst!!

Oh my gosh!!! That is terrible news! I am so sorry! I wish I had a magic wand that I could send your way and with one flip of the wrist all of your files would come back.

  • I'm so sad for you, I had this happen to me too a few months back and I was devastated. We all know we should back up, but sometimes we just get comfortable within our own little digital world. Hopefully you didn't lose personal photos like I did .. hugs!

If it makes you feel any better, please know that I LOVE your creations and use you as my #1 inspiration as I work on my now 2 year old daughter's digital baby book. I am up to her 5th month of life and on page 80…lord help me! lol

good luck and again, that is awful!

OMGosh that is awful, I am so sorry!!!! I am shutting down now to do a back-up…thanks!

  • I feeeeeel your pain!!!!!!!!!!!

What an awful wonderful terrible digital world we live in!

It's not fair that digital isn't more secure!

I have learned to back-up more now, too!
(Hopefully my back-up system is secure!)

    I recomend a UPS.
I purchased one from my service provider, which happens to be the phone company. (about $100)
I am convinced it saved my data when my computer literally fried before my eyes a few months ago.
It Powered down my computer & monitor literally within split seconds of sensing a problem!

(I wish I had had a UPS on my Yamaha Clavinova piano when lightening stuck!)

So – I recomend a UPS for you. I plug everything inmportant into it. (Mine has three plugins.)
Computer, Monitor & a large power strip, which is where my EXt drives get plugged into. I basically plug nothing into the wall outlet anymore.
(Planning on getting another UPS too for spare computer.)

Maybe you are already doing this – !

Also – as a backup measure, I never leave my computer "on" 24/7 like some people do… and I for sure UNplug from the wall during storms & when I know i will be gone from home for awhile.

Hope this helps you or someone else out there!
