Melissa Rieschick – My Hybrid Pocket Page Process

Hi all! Melissa here to share a hybrid pocket page I made with Krista’s latest release, Like A Boss|Kit and Like A Boss|Journal Cards. I have a new baby nephew to scrap, so I was excited by the bright, boy friendly colors in this kit. I quickly picked my photos, cards, and elements, then printed everything off on my Canon MX922 printer, using Canon Matte Photo Paper. I have tried several types of paper, but with my Canon printer, their matte photo paper can’t be beat! After everything was printed off, I gathered my tools. I use these things for nearly every page: My Swingline guillotine paper trimmer, my Cutter Bee scissors, my Creative Memories corner rounder, my American Crafts mini stapler, a Tombow tape runner and glue dots in standard and mini sizes.

Next, I trimmed the printed element sheet. Now normally, I would use my Silhouette Portrait for this. But my Silhouette was really acting up and not cooperating that day. Ah, gotta love technology! It ended up being a good thing though. I selected a lot of elements with a high content of white, so the Silhouette would have trimmed around the white, esentially cutting it out. It pays to know your software! 🙂 Cutting by hand, however time consuming, was definitely necessary in this case.

After this was complete I pulled out an assortment of elements to pick from when embellishing. I have an obsession with sequins, flair, wood veneer, enamel dots, and chipboard pieces. Check out my photo below of my sequins hoard!

I then got busy taping, embellishing, and slipping everything into pockets. Here is my finished page.

And here is a closer look at some of the finishing touches.

Thank you for stopping by and happy creating!
