JOURNAL IT | Small Blessings

I wanted to send a heart felt thank you to each and every one of my wonderful customers, fans, friends & scrappers!  Every single day of my life I think how blessed I am that I get to have my “dream” job! So thank you so very much for all your support! AND…Now that my kids have summer break… my mind has been thinking of my “blessings” quite a bit. It’s very easy to get caught up in the busy-ness of life, work, chores.   I’ve made it a priority to step back a bit and reflect on my greatest blessings… my  children. Time goes so fast, and I don’t want to miss a moment.  So this summer I may be a little quieter, there may not be a new release every Friday, it may take a little longer to respond back to emails… and I’ve finally realized that it’s OK.  Instead I may be making frozen ice pops, setting up the slip and slide, running to and from swimming lessons.   I may be out finding a garage sale with my daughter or reading “Mouse and the Motorcycle” to my son.

What about you??  What will you be doing this summer? Don’t be afraid to stop and slow down abit… take time to reflect on a few of your blessings. I recently read a quote, “A good memory is one that can remember the day’s blessings and forget the day’s troubles”.

As I’m writing this… I can hear the song, “Count Your Blessings, instead of Sheep” by Bing Crosby in the Christmas movie, White Christmas. Have you heard that song? Perhaps if you haven’t you should go over and take a listen. It is just a nice listen.

Which leads me to this weeks journal prompt: “small blessings”

Immediately when the phrase, “small blessings”, I think of my children or of babies! But as I began to dwell on the phrase a little more, I thought of all the little blessings that fill my life everyday. Blessings that often go unnoticed and unmentioned. Here are few ideas of small blessings that we might overlook on a daily basis:

– health in our family
– safety in our daily travels and activities
– daily provision (food, shelter, clothing)
– love from our children or spouse
– the smile that your sweet children give you in the morning
– hugs and kisses
– help around the house with daily chores
And the list really could go on and on.

For your journal prompt,  focus on the small blessing in your life.  You could:
1) Use this prompt on your page as a quote or your title. OR
2) Use this as a jump-start for your journaling process.  For example:  Perhaps you have a photo of your children helping in the kitchen.  This will help you to remember the little blessings they are when they become Mommy’s big helpers.

After thinking of all of my blessings I’ve been given, this was the perfect prompt to motivate me to reflect on a few blessings and write them down. Creating this layout was very therapeutic for me.

I hope this prompt has opened up new ideas for your creative process.
I created a word art set to help make your journal process even easier.

Thanks Krista. Small blessings have been on mind lately too, just in a very different way, in that of a new job, health insurance, a new home without mold, family, etc.
